Although I have a completed draft for my multi-source essay, I no longer like it, and have constructed a new idea. I hope this outline will suffice for now as I cannot turn in work I do not feel is a proper reflection of myself.

THESIS: colleges must reform (requirements/policies) (because they are responsible) to produce the most successful students
Point One: Students are not able to demonstrate acquired knowledge when there is only one accessible approach to learning. source:menand quote: By generalizing instruction with prerequisite requirement students are forced to conform, and sacrifice genuine educational interests, universities must..."keep out "unqualified" practioners, (...), by monopolizing both instruction and scholarship." (263)
agree/disagree with source:_Freire quote: “knowledge becomes a gift bestowed by those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing.” what do I say about the point Students become lethargic/ apathetic when forced to conform how do I tie their quote to my topic If students constantly feel inferior to their educator (superior) they are unlikely to have the motivation to further pursue an education
Point Two: Unconfident students will unlikely question university motives, but it seems few students question the fact that colleges are now more focused on revenue, and status than student well-being. source: central michigan university tuition and fee history. quote: “tuition rates at CMU have more than tripled over the last decade.”concur/ support???-Sad considering the vague education being offered. source: Jay Greene quote: “(there has been)a 62% increase in administrative cost per student, compared to only 39% in instruction”. Overall there has only been a 34% increase in expenses per student (study conducted at the university of arkansas) what do I think about this point literally, and figuratively, students are being robbed the opportunity to succeed; should an increase in tuition costs not also indicate an increase in student value? how do I tie their quotes to my topic Students will begin to drop out of college when realizing how invaluable a generalized bachelors degree is in comparison to tuition increases, which will surely grant a successful future.
Point Three: If universities do not make changes to better prepare the student for life beyond college they risk not only individual success, but societal stability (forget societal success).
BECAUSE: EVERYONE HAS A GENERAL BACHELORS DEGREE!
...and not one person will have an education that is better than another thus eliminating most competition. Who cares if (you) have a bachelors in health administration if after graduation the only available gig is managing crispy cream?
-no job
-no car
-no money
source: Gladwell quote: what matters more than anything in predicting professional success is the quality of the learning environment that the quarterback is drafted into, not the quality of the experience he was drafted from”concur/ support??? The real world does not ask the individual to be generalized, but diversified. By distributing a “one size fits all” education, and by spending more than ever within universities (administrative, tuition, useless updates) universities should be able to guarantee that student value be reimbursed
I would like to note that I just now realized I am lacking a counter argument for each point. BUT I know I could use Graff, Tagg, and probably a little something from the "The Truman Diaries."
